Fin del Mundo or End of the World Waterfall is located in the department of Putumayo, in the middle of the Amazon jungle and a virgin landscape loaded with hundreds of flora and fauna species, pure air and a lot of natural wealth.
THE END OF THE WORLD WATERFALL
The End of the World Waterfall is located near Mocoa, the capital of Putumayo. Mocoa has a humid tropical climate, its average temperature is 24ºC and the presence of rains is constant throughout the year.
HOW TO GET TO THE END OF THE WORLD WATERFALL?
To get to the End of the World Waterfall, you must first go to the municipality of Mocoa. Which can be reached by road from Bogotá, Cali and Pitalito.

If you prefer to travel by plane you must take a flight to Villagarzón or Puerto Asís, the first one is 20 minutes from Mocoa and the last one is about 2 hours by road.
If you are going to look for flights to Villagarzón or Puerto Asís, a good idea is to do it in Skyscanner, since there with a couple of clicks you will be able to find the best price and the most convenient time for you.
In Mocoa you must take a bus to Villagarzón and get off at the Posada Turística Dantayaco. There you can enter the bathroom and start your journey.
The passage from Mocoa to the Posada Turística Dantayaco costs about $1,500 COP per trip and the journey can take just under 20 minutes.
WHAT TO DO IN YOUR TRIP TO THE END OF THE WORLD WATERFALL?
When you decide to travel to the End of the World Waterfall, you must be willing to live the adventure, travel old trails, go wanting to practice some adventure sports and even meditate in the middle of the jungle.
But before starting the adventure, always remember to walk with caution, meet all the recommendations of the guides, hire extreme sports with certified companies and abstain from bathing in prohibited places, as some natural pools have up to 10 meters deep!
With this in mind, now you can know some of the places you can discover in your visit to Putumayo and the End of the World Waterfall:
1. THE END OF THE WORLD WATERFALL
The End of the World Waterfall has a drop of more than 70 meters in height, from its summit you can observe the immensity of the Colombian Amazon and the Serranía de los Churumbelos.
To get to the End of the World Waterfall you must tie your shoes well because the walk is 1 to 2 hours, although it all depends on your physical condition and how much you couple to marvel at the wildlife of the place.
At the End of the World Waterfall, it is PROHIBITED to bathe, from its summit you can only approach the shore by crawling on your stomach and observe from above how the water falls with great force.
The road to the End of the World Waterfall is completely signposted, but do not trust yourself and go to the fixed one with a native guide. Also, keep in mind that sometimes the rains leave the path bogged down so you will need boots or closed shoes with good grip.
The most recommended is that you spend a whole day to get to know the End of the World Waterfall, since on the way you will find smaller waterfalls and natural pools such as Pozo Negro and Pozo Danta, where you can swim or relax for a while and find restaurants where you can eat something.
Keep in mind that the path that leads to the End of the World Waterfall can only be accessed from 7 a.m. at 12 noon (Tuesday closed) and you must return from the waterfall no later than 3 p.m.

2. THE EYE OF GOD WATERFALL
Another destination you should visit during your stay in Putumayo and on your way to the End of the World Waterfall is the Eye of God.
The Eye of God is one of the most beautiful waterfalls of the Putumayo and perhaps of Colombia, in it the water breaks through the rocks and falls more than 35 meters high. A good place to practice torrentism.
The Eye of God is located in the same nature reserve as the End of the World Waterfall, so it is a good idea to visit it after going through the End of the World.
3. THE HORNOYACO WATERFALL
The day after visiting the End of the World Waterfall and the Eye of God, an excellent plan is to go to the Hornoyaco Waterfall, an imposing waterfall of at least 55 meters high that ends in a large natural pool in which you can swim and have a good time.
The entrance to the Hornoyaco Waterfall is done on kilometer 2 of the Mocoa – Villagarzón road, from that point it takes about 30 minutes walking along the path that leads to the waterfall.
The path is not signposted, but not impossible to walk, however you must be prepared to crawl and even hang on lianas.
The Hornoyaco Waterfall, unlike the End of the World Waterfall, you can observe it from below and the good thing is that it is very lonely, so there you can relax a bit, do meditation, yoga or swim in its calm waters.
Perhaps the best part is that the entrance is free, and it is definitely one of the ecotourism attractions that you should know if you visit Mocoa or the department of Putumayo.
4. THE MANDIYACO CANYON
The Mandiyaco Canyon is along the Manda River and the Caquetá River, is located right on the border of the departments of Cauca, Caquetá and Putumayo and they say that the serpentine way of its roads is the result of the eruption of a volcanic.
The entrance to the Mandiyaco Canyon is located on the road that leads to Pitalito, 25 minutes from Mocoa, by the Caquetá bridge and the entrance has a cost of $2,500 COP.
5. PARQUE SURUMA AND THE AMAZON EXPERIMENTAL CENTER – CEA
Visiting the Amazon Experimental Center is a beautiful experience, this environmental observatory promotes scientific and traditional knowledge, and seeks the preservation of flora and fauna of the region.
The Amazon Experimental Center is located at kilometer 8 of the road that goes from Mocoa to Villagarzón, the entrance to the center and the park has a cost of $10,000 COP and its purpose is to improve the quality of life of the animals that were in captivity.
WHERE TO STAY CLOSE TO THE END OF THE WORLD WATERFALL?
One of the best things about this adventure is to be able to stay away from the noise of the chaotic cities and be able to do it in the middle of the jungle of Putumayo.
Near the path that leads to the End of the World Waterfall there are several inns, cabins and hostels that offer shared and private rooms, mostly made with natural resources or at least with materials that do not go against it.
